Respect and safety in our community.

At St Catherine’s College, we are committed to creating a residential community where everyone feels safe, respected and supported. Behaviours that constitute Gender-based violence, sexual harassment, sexual harm, coercion, intimidation, stalking, harassment, discrimination or retaliation are not tolerated within our College community.

As a residential college, we align with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence and the Australian Universities Accord, and we work closely with our students, staff and university partners to prevent harm, respond appropriately to concerns and uphold clear standards of conduct within our community.

Our commitment to prevention, safety and support

Support and Reporting

If you experience or witness behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or concerned, support is available at St Catherine’s College. Whether you want to talk things through, seek practical help, or explore your options, you can decide who you speak with, how much you share, and what steps, if any, you wish to take. College staff will listen, respect your choices, and provide clear information about available support and reporting pathways within the College and through the University of Western Australia or Curtin University. Where action is required to ensure safety or to meet legal or university obligations, this will be explained to you clearly and sensitively.

Students can seek support from any of the following people:

  • Chief Executive Officer

  • Head of College

  • Deans and Associate Deans of College

  • Director of Dandjoo Darbalung

  • College Row Wellbeing Officer (UWA)

  • Residential Assistants, who can help you make contact with a trained staff member

Confidential and external support

Students may also choose to access confidential support outside the College, including university services or specialist external services. St Catherine’s College can assist with referrals if requested.

You do not need College permission to seek external support.

Make a Report
You can seek information or support without making a formal complaint.

During office hours
Contact a senior member of College staff to discuss your concerns, seek support, or make a report.

Outside office hours
Residents may contact the on-call Resident Assistant, who will connect them with the on-call staff member.

Online reporting
You may submit an online report at any time. Reports can be made with identifying information or anonymously.

Your choices

  • You can make a report for yourself or about a concern involving another member of the community.

  • You are not required to make a formal report in order to access information or support.

  • Where possible, the College will respect your preferences regarding how your report is handled, noting that there may be circumstances in which action is required to ensure safety or meet legal obligations.
