Events and Activities

Start your journey

Try something new, meet someone unexpected or take the lead. There is no one-size-fits-all College routine, but everything we do is designed to bring residents together. Your experience is yours to shape.

Celebrating College life

Whether it’s shared dinners or spontaneous gatherings, social life is built on connection. Signature events such as the Annual Ball, Commencement Dinner, Valedictory Dinner and Secret Friends Week bring the whole College together, creating lasting memories.

Culture & Creativity

Cultural events reflect the diversity, curiosity and creativity of our community. With highlights like Multicultural Week, there is always something to experience.

Weekly activities, including art sessions, language tables and cultural immersion programs, offer relaxed ways to share stories, learn from others and engage with new perspectives.

Sport & Fitness

Sport and fitness at St Catherine’s College support both wellbeing and camaraderie. Join the residential sporting cups, participate in social sports, or stay active with weekly fitness classes. The annual Sports Dinner celebrates team spirit and collective achievement.

Celebrating Academic Excellence

Events such as Faculty and Industry Dinners and The Boyd Dinner for Emerging Leaders recognise academic excellence and strengthen the scholarly community. These traditions honour achievement while encouraging shared reflection and connection.

Formal Hall celebrations

Each Monday evening, residents gather in academic gowns for a three-course dinner in Withnell Dining Hall. These evenings often include live music and guest speakers from diverse academic and professional fields.

Volunteering & Service

Giving back is a valued part of College life. Volunteering offers the chance to lead, advocate and support causes that matter, while building meaningful connections with the broader community.

Our residents participate in initiatives such as Relay for Life, Earth Hour and the World’s Greatest Shave, or contribute through the Golden Z Club, a student-led group focused on service, leadership and impact.

Clubs and student life

Clubs at St Catherine’s are resident-led and fuelled by shared interests, creativity and fun. Whether you love movies, dancing or sushi, there’s a club for you — and if not, you’re encouraged to start one.

Popular groups include the Cold Dips, Movie Club, Dance Club, Brunch Club and Sushi Club. Each offers a space to relax, make connections and shape your own College experience.
