Key information

Applications for 2025 are now closed. Applications for 2026 will open later this year.

New applicants must have applied for and received an offer to St Catherine’s College to be eligible.

Returning residents must have applied for readmission to be considered.

Scholarships vary in value and criteria and are awarded as fee reductions, credited in two tranches (Semester 1 and Semester 2).

Only one application is required to be considered for all scholarships. The College will determine the most suitable scholarship(s) for each applicant.

Shortlisted candidates for named scholarships may be invited to interview.

Scholarship Categories

Our scholarships reflect exceptional value and support, and are grouped by focus area to recognise the diverse achievements and potential of our residents.

Academic Excellence

General and First-Year Awards

  • 50% fee reduction, renewable annually for up to four years. Awarded for academic excellence, outstanding extracurricular achievements, commitment to community service and leadership potential.

  • $10,000 for one year. Supports high-achieving first-year prospective students with an ATAR of 97.00 or higher.

 

Prestigious and Named Scholarships

  • Full fee coverage for up to four years. Awarded to recipients of the Beazley Medal, Western Australia’s highest secondary school honour.

  • 50% fee reduction, renewable annually for up to four years. For students admitted to the UWA Fogarty program.

  • Up to 50% fee reduction, renewable annually for up to four years. For UWA Winthrop Scholars.

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable annually for up to four years. For UWA Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) students.

  • $5,000 for one year, renewable. For UWA Lawrence Scholarship recipients and those with an ATAR of 99.90 or equivalent outstanding achievement.

  • $6,500 for one year, renewable at $5,000 annually for up to four years. For UWA Connect Scholars.

  • Up to $5,000 for one year, renewable. For students awarded a UWA Hackett Scholarship prior to the scheme's conclusion in 2025.

 

Legacy and Commemorative Scholarships

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable. Commemorates a former resident, awarded for academic excellence, community service and leadership.

  • $5,000 for one year. Awarded for academic excellence and contribution to College life.

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable. Awarded to an undergraduate demonstrating academic promise and global citizenship.

  • Up to $8,000 for one year. For female students excelling academically and contributing to community issues.

  • $5,000 for one year. Funded through the estate of Enid Russell, WA’s first female law graduate. For academically ambitious students at any WA university.

  • $5,000 for one year. Honours a champion of environmental conservation, awarded to students committed to environmental studies.

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable. For undergraduates with academic excellence and global citizenship potential. The award honours an esteemed WA archivist.

 

Financial Consideration

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable. Established by alumnae Jane Powell and Jane Fenwick to support students facing financial hardship. For female students who contribute positively to community life.

  • $5,000 for one year. Named for a UWA Warden of Convocation and Senate member. Supports returning students who face educational disadvantage.

  • $5,000 for one year. For students with academic potential and leadership qualities facing barriers such as distance, finances, culture or caring responsibilities.

  • Up to $10,000 for one year. For first-year students with strong academic potential but limited financial means.

  • $10,000 for one year, renewable. Honours a resilient spirit; supports students facing disadvantage due to distance, economic, cultural or health challenges.

  • $2,000 for one year. For students experiencing financial hardship who are also recipients of the UWA Alumni Fairway program.

  • Up to $5,000 for one year. Available to current residents experiencing financial hardship.

Indigenous Scholars

  • Up to $5,000 for one year. Named for one of WA’s early female law graduates. For Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students with academic potential.

  • Up to $5,000 for one year. For Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students with strong academic potential.

 

Regional Excellence

  • $1,000 for one year. For students from regional WA with an ATAR of 90 or above.

 

Sport or Arts Merit

  • Up to $5,000 for one year. For students admitted to university elite sports programs and demonstrating academic excellence.

  • $5,000 for one year. For students achieving in music or the applied arts.

  • $2,000 for one year. For students showing potential in sport or the arts while residing at College.

 

Postgraduate Scholars

  • $5,000 for one year. Established in 1996 from the estate of Malvina Evelyn Wood, a UWA alumna and international academic. For postgraduate coursework or research students at any WA university.

  • Up to $5,000 for one year. For postgraduate students at WA universities with a minimum GPA of 6.5.

 

Exchange Scholars

  • Up to $5,000 for one semester or year-long exchange.

 

Additional Recognition

  • Provides a fully funded GAMSAT® preparation course for a resident intending to pursue Medicine.
