Canvas and Culture

Dandjoo Darbalung x Ronald McDonald House

Residents created more than 30 artworks for Ronald McDonald House on Park, vibrant expressions of Culture and community crafted with pride and purpose. This collaboration demonstrates the power of visual storytelling to foster healing, connection and shared strength within the Dandjoo Darbalung community and beyond.

Support from partners like the Crown Resorts Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries helps amplify First Nations voices through storytelling, leadership and Cultural pride.

Immersive Art Exhibition

Students collaborated with artist Sohan Ariel Hayes to bring First Nations youth voices to life in a large-scale public art experience. Supported by the Crown Resorts Foundation, the exhibition celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creativity, connection and community.

My culture is inherently a part of who I am. It’s part of my day-to-day activities and informs how I treat people, my art, my performance, my academics.
— Alaxandrea Slad, Proud First Nations Woman

NAIDOC Short Films

Each year, Dandjoo Darbalung students co-create powerful short films inspired by the themes of NAIDOC Week, working alongside Elders, cultural mentors and storytellers. These films are more than creative projects. They are:

  • Cultural archives that preserve story and knowledge for future generations

  • Teaching tools that enrich learning and deepen understanding

  • Platforms for self-representation, led by the voices of those whose stories they tell

Rooted in collaboration and guided by Cultural integrity, these works continue to educate, inspire and connect. Explore the collection below.

This isn’t just storytelling. It’s a way to carry knowledge, spark change and stand proud in who we are.
